Yo ho ho, we're in beta!
Right you lot, we had a little time out with the Dj of the Month, but now its back and better than ever! We'll be running this competition monthly, and our lucky winners will bag themselves a £10 credit to use in our shop, as well as having their mix published on our podcast page indefinitely and their DJ biog on this page!
Well, with all that said, over the transitional period we have still been receiving mixes, and there were a few outstanding mixes that we thought were really good hence we already have our first winner...

Sometime CD;s just turn up at our yard with a tracklisting and no contact details (or maybe you lost them Jez ;) ) Anyway we have no idea about this one, apparently he won DJ of the Month before but we don't remember as we smoke too much. In one ear out the other as it were. Anyway Chris if your reading this geeza get in touch, you've won some free beats mate. We tried e-mailing you and stalking you on Mysapce but to no avial.
I'm not very wise but dub wisdom 9 (what happened to the other 8?) is a pretty tidy mix. Nice electro breakdown in between some rollers with DJ Fresh' Gold Dust and you've got a snapshot of what hot in dnb right now. Big'

Darren's the name, and I reside in a small market town called Grantham. Its great!.....Hmmm. I'm currently an engineer, and I do a little freelance design on the side, Flyers for events, logos, Business cards that kind of stuff, I'm also studying Web Development in my spare time.
My musical roots are set in the Punk Rock soils of the world, mainly the UK, USA and Canada, you cant beat the raw energy of seeing a punk band live! I also like Metal, Rock, Ska, Dub, even Santana. then when I was about 18 I moved in with my mate who was into his dance music, and other things that go really well with dance music!...well, that was it for me, DNB all the way!! My first CDs were Renegade hardware Armageddon, and John B Catalyst (What an album! even now) It took me a few years before I started buying vinyl then I purchased some second hand decks about 4 years ago and haven't looked back. I play out from time to time, I have played Grantham to death, and tried my hand at event promoting, even though there is not enough support from the revellers in this town! And I now play in a club in Peterborough called AJs, and very nice it is too.
We all like Break, but 10 Breaks tunes in one hour? Damn... I thought it was too many but Subvicious shows his selection is vicious and rolling and pulls it off nicely. Its one hell of a neuro affair…

Real name is Oscar, I'm a 24 year old Economics & Business Studies graduate of Sheffield University, currently working in Telecommunications. Musically, Drum n Bass is what gets me going, have been listening to it on and off since I was around 15, although back then punk/ska/classic rock were my sound. I played the guitar for about 3 years until the age of 18. It was then that dnb fully took over my life, and i purchased a set of decks a year later. I spend most of my hours behind my decks on the endless quest for 'big mixes'!! I got them about 3 years ago now, and since then have put all my effort into rinsing every penny I own on my set-up and my vinyl buying addiction.
I was fairly involved with the Sheffield scene when I was there, as a result I have been asked to play at nights such as The Tuesday Club, Metropolis & Drum n Bass Arena multiple times, and have also had gigs in Leeds, Nottingham, Leicester, Bedford and London. As well as this, I ran a night in Sheffield for the best part of a year, booking some of the scene's biggest artists. I have done guest slots on Nottingham's Kindafunkyradio and Leeds' mighty Frequency 88.1fm. I was selected as the winner of the Innovation in the Sun DJ Competition for 2007, I played in the main arena for 90 mins! Then later in 2007, I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the winner of the Rotation/Breakin Science DJ competition for NYE, I got to play the midnight set in room 2 at London's Fridge!
Old Skool mentalities, b-boy breaks, future funk - its all here. A tidy blend of industrial rollers that makes me screw my face up. Some of the reece and bass noises in this tracklisting are the finest out there, a clean distinction of true drum and bass as it should be; raw, real and damn right deep.

Hailing from the Garden of England, Badger fills his new home Southampton with the sweet smell of DnB.
His taste in audio varies across the board, sweet sounds of Hospital and Soul R especially and has a new found liking for dirty beats produced from labels like Freak Recs and Shogun Audio. More of Badgers favourite genres include Funk and good UK Hip Hop.
When it comes to ‘dabbling on the decks’, Badger likes straight up mixing, with occasional cross over to Hip Hop and throws in a nice cut for good measure.
Other than DJ-ing, Badger combines myriad talents, designing web banners and animation, club visuals for major nights/DJs, video editing and photography, with his layback and approachable style. Working as a freelancer has allowed Badger to offer his skills to many different people and he is currently creating a website – misterbadger.co.uk – to showcase his portfolio.
In his spare time, Badger brings the rain to COD4, has a regular DJing spot and partakes in the odd bottle of chilled European export. Badger also enjoys a joint role in the infamous Southampton based UnderGrowth collective.
Well, I don't like badgers, I generally eat them for breakfast, but they do put on some good parties in the woods every now and then. Full respect for this mix though, pretty pretty good, especially the hip-hop mid section... that was big! But stay out my way Badger! Grrrr...
So this is the score, if you'd like to enter all you need to do is send in your mix to us which needs to be around 45mins long, drum and bass or dubstep (naturally), including a short biog about yourself and a picture.
To be considered for that month please get your entries in by the 14th. The best mix wins. Best of luck and we look forward to listening to your entries!!!
